DESERT ROSE

ILLUSTRATED CARE GUIDE FOR DESERT ROSE

“A rose by any other name…

..would smell as sweet”  We all know this quote by Shakespeare. This one is so much more than just a Rose though. Adenium Obesum (commonly known as the Desert Rose) is a shrubby perennial from the Apocynaceae family. The stem tapers with height and at the top large flowers appear in Summer, showing off their colours of red pink or white. These flowers sit majestically atop leaves that are long and oval in shape.

Impress your friends…

Telling someone that you own a plant from the Apocynaceae (pronounced uh·po·suh·nay·see·ai) Family, means that it is part of a group of chiefly tropical herbs, shrubs, or trees. They usually have a milky juice when broken open, often showy flowers, and a fruit consisting of two follicles or drupes.

Another interesting fact is that it is also called the Impala Lily and that this species has earnt itself a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit

Bonsai lovers unite!

It is very popular with Bonsai lovers because the caudex (that is the stem and root) is swollen with water it stores, making it look like a Bonsai. Want to display your very own Desert Rose within 2 days? Then simply Click here to purchase
