PURPLE CACTUS
Sulcorebutia rauschii
£4.55
Sulcorebutia rauschii is a seriously cool cactus forming a wonderful cluster of colourful blobs and bright blue flowers in early summer! A highly sought after and unusual cacti variety and slow growing too. The tight cluster of heads is colourful in itself with striking purple and green. The texture is almost like a closed miniature fur cone and for a cacti it’s not so spiney – instead it has tiny ridges of black spines arranged in a sort of tight fishbone shape. Flowers are continual during the warmest periods and are brightly coloured cerise pink with yellow-orange centres. They appear from amongst the heads and contrast fabulously against the purple/green flesh.

Description
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: As with all cacti – be careful not to overwater. Allow the plant to dry out between watering. During the winter period hardly any water is necessary.
- Soil: Sultorebutia rauschii loves a very permeable, coarse mineral soil
- Sun exposure: Happiest in full sun; light shadow my be useful in the hottest summer days
- Watering: Water moderately in the growing season, keep dry during the winter rest
- Hardiness: Overwinter in a cool place (at 0/10°C) this is important for the flowers as well as for plants health. Without this cool winter period they normally don’t get any buds.
