ALOE BLACK GEM CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Sunlight: Aloe Black Gem shows off its brightest colors when it gets lots of sunlight. Place it near a window that faces south or west so it can soak up several hours of sunlight each day. This will help its leaves develop a beautiful bronze tan that’s truly eye-catching. But don’t worry if you don’t have a super sunny spot – this plant can still do well in areas with less sunlight and will maintain its rich, dark green color.
Temperature: Aloe Black Gem is a tough and resilient aloe variety that can handle winter conditions in the UK without a problem. If you want to keep it in an unheated greenhouse or conservatory during winter, make sure to keep it on the drier side. Overwatering combined with the cold can be harmful and may lead to the plant’s demise. So, remember to go easy on the watering during the winter months to keep your Aloe Black Gem happy and healthy.
Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between watering sessions to prevent overwatering, which can lead to root rot. In the UK’s climate, water your Aloe Black Gem approximately every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) and reduce watering frequency during the dormant period (autumn and winter).
Soil: Use well-draining soil specifically formulated for cacti and succulents or create a mixture by combining regular potting soil with perlite or coarse sand. This helps prevent the roots from sitting in water and avoids any potential problems like root rot.
Humidity: Aloe Black Gem is quite adaptable when it comes to indoor humidity. It can handle the average humidity levels typically found in homes without any issues. TSo, you don’t need to worry about implementing additional measures to control humidity.
Dormancy: During the winter months, Aloe Black Gem enters a dormant period where it requires less water and sunlight. Reduce watering frequency and avoid fertilizing during this time.
